To be honest, we've never been to the opening night of the holiday season at Northpark Mall, but we have been told that it is one of the "must-see" events of the holiday season. If you are like me, you've heard words like "must-see" and "the event of the season" so much that they just blend into the noise of the holidays without even registering on your radar. But... we thought the same thing when we were told that Halloween night was going to be "a little hectic," only to find ourselves blown away and woefully unprepared for the wild night. Consequently, I'm inclined to think that our new friends and neighbors here are not exaggerating when they use these terms.
We are told to expect choirs, live musical performance around every corner, all of the merchants serving beverages and food, and last but not least, the arrival of St. Nicholas himself. We'll have all of the ovens running at full blast to supply cookies and treats for folks that come out to spend the evening with us, and kick off our first Christmas as part of the Northpark family.
Incidentally, I almost forgot to mention that we are right down the hall from one of the cornerstones of an Oklahoma Christmas, B.C. Clark Jewelers. (If you're not from Oklahoma, you may not know this, but most sales are after Christmas, but Clark's is just before. Most everything is marked way down, savings you can't ignore.)
